DACCO Safe & Sound

DACCO’s Safe & Sound prevention program is designed to educate students on topics of wellness, health, nutrition and mental resilience in order to increase their chance of success both at school and at home. The following topics are addressed during a student’s time in the program:

  • Anger Management   
  • Drug Education
  • Self-Esteem 
  • Problem Solving
  • Communication Skills 
  • Stress Reduction
  • Peer Pressure 
  • Goal Setting
  • Study Skills   
  • Decision Making
  • Nutrition
  • Nutrition
Students are seen in group or individual counseling sessions during school hours over a 14-16 week period. Any student that would benefit from these services is eligible to be referred to the program. Ms. Surles earned her Master in Public Health from the University of South Florida and has been working with youth to help strengthen resiliency and coping skills for several years.
